My boyfriend showed me this game, and I really enjoyed it, it was very charming! I'll definitely keep an eye on this moving forwards.

Pros:
-Auto detected my PS4 controller, which is what I used to play the demo with.
-Visuals are clear and concise, I could easily tell what platforms I could stand on, what were doors or caves, and what other things I could interact with were.
-The pallet of the visuals themselves is quite nice, I like the sky colours chosen for the levels a lot.
-Music was good, felt authentic to the style of game it was emulating.
-Using the bubble jump was fun. The sheer height you get using it is great and made me want to use it as often as I could to explore.
-The animal sprites are all very cute!
-The map screen itself is very nice as well. I liked the Zelda style visuals mixed with Mario 3. I noticed and appreciated the visual nods to past games. I also liked that you can save animal friends on the map too.

Cons:
-Sofia not making any kind of sound when she jumps makes controlling her feel just a little worse. I think adding a simple noise that changes depending on how high you jump would go a long way improve player feedback when controlling her.
-The pause screen. When you press B to return to the map, I think the default option should be "Stay Here" rather than "Exit Level" as a few times I accidentally exited out due to other games I had played having the 'stay' option on the top. Better to accidentally stay in the level and simple have to reopen the menu, rather than kick yourself out and start over again.
-Enemy placement. Due to the small resolution of the screen I found in order to keep myself safe I would just constantly fire off screen to the right. Often enemies would appear on screen, charging a ranged attack that would fire off before I had any time to react, or a flying enemy would slam into me as soon as they were visible, which felt shitty. Spam firing while playing eliminated any danger of me being hit, but I am sure it wasn't really how you intended the player to defend themselves. Also, the placing of the turtle monsters in a narrow passage where you have to jump on them to knock them over would make me slam into the very low ceiling, then ricochet back down into the flipped over turtle and immediately take damage. Maybe add a grace period where you cannot be injured by the flipped over turtle to prevent this, because it happened pretty consistently in the one area, even with me trying to avoid it.

All in all, a very solid job!
You should be very proud of your hard work.
